The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF-2018) officially started its work in the Expoforum exhibition and convention center.
The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum is a unique annual international event in the world of economics and business. Every year more than 5,000 representatives of political and business circles, leading scientists, representatives of the public and mass media from all over the world gather at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, which is held with the participation of the President of the Russian Federation, to discuss key pressing issues facing Russia and all world community.
Traditionally, the events of the Forum are held in the format of panel sessions, round tables, TV debates, business breakfasts and business dialogues devoted to Russia’s relations with various countries of the world. As the partners of the Forum, the largest Russian and foreign companies represent products and services, organize thematic zones of business communication. Presentations of promising Russian and foreign investment projects, B2B solutions and technologies are held within the framework of SPIEF Investment & Business Expo at the Forum site.
This year the motto of the forum is “Creating an economy of trust”. As part of the business program, participants will discuss the impact of new technologies on all areas of life. Discussions will focus on the use of artificial intelligence in the real sector of the economy, gene therapy, breakthrough technologies in medicine, the construction of digital infrastructure, and the use of blocking technology in business and management.
The SPIEF will host inter-country business dialogues with representatives of the United States, Italy, Finland, India and African countries, as well as thematic business breakfasts with representatives of pharmaceutical companies and the IT industry.
First Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Anton Siluanov, Vice President of the People’s Republic of China Wang Qishan, Prime Minister of Mongolia Ukhnaagiin Huralsuh, Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Cuba Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz and President of the Central African Republic Fosten-Arkange Tuader will take part in the opening ceremony. Also, St. Petersburg Governor Georgy Poltavchenko will address the participants with a welcoming speech.
Vladimir Putin is scheduled to communicate with members of the International Expert Council of RFPI and representatives of the international investment community. In addition, on various days the Russian president will hold talks with French President Emmanuel Macron and meet with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, as well as with the President of the Central African Republic Fosten-Arkange Tuader, with Vice President Wang Qishan, with the Managing Director of the IMF Christine Lagarde.
The International Economic Forum in St. Petersburg will host about 15,000 guests from more than a hundred countries.
