A presentation of the economic and investment potential of the Kaluga Region took place at the Congress Center of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The event was attended by a delegation of the region led by Governor Anatoly Artamonov, representatives of the legislative and executive authorities, the business community, potential investors, the diplomatic corps, the media.
In the foyer of the Congress Center, an exhibition exposition about the region’s investment potential was launched.
Traditionally, two sectors have developed in the region: agriculture and industry.
Agriculture because there is a huge Moscow agglomeration nearby, good transport accessibility.
Promising areas for investment are the production of dairy products, the production of meat (beef, including marble), vegetable growing (the largest greenhouse complex in Europe is built here). The native land region produces fish (including trout and salmon), shrimp.
In the industry, the automotive cluster created from scratch (about thirty enterprises), provides 11 percent of the production of all cars in Russia. Also, from scratch, the established pharmaceutical cluster will ensure output in 2019 of 50 billion rubles.
Kaluga region produces locomotives and equipment for the construction of railways, turbines, etc. There is a scientific cluster – the famous Obninsk.
In recent years, a serious bet has been made on the development of tourism. The region is already visited by 2.5 million people a year – twice as many as it was just five years ago.
Ethnourism, rural, industrial, children’s, event development (more than twenty different festivals are held in the region) and even space tourism (Konstantin Tsiolkovsky, the founder of space exploration), are developing. In terms of tourism development, the region entered the top ten in the country.
At the end of the presentation, the governor and representatives of the administration of the Kaluga region answered questions from the participants of the event.
